And soon, the butterflies will fly away

The days are starting to change, even here in West Central Georgia. The mornings and evenings are starting to have a little crispness to them. The leaves are starting to change and some are even starting to fall. I love fall, but the transition into sometimes makes me melancholy. This year, we didn't have much "summer" per se. We were so busy travelling and the bulk of where we went it was cold still. We only went to the beach once and really didnt get out to use the pool as much as we really do. So, unfortunately, summer slipped by. I'm not complaining, because I wouldn't trade our trip to Europe for anything. It was completely amazing, but I'm sad to see the long days go. So, when I was getting ready to make today's outfit this particular fabric in the Fabric Store (aka the garage) called to me. It was a beautiful spray of butterflies, flying everywhere. We have these huge butterfly bushes in our backyard and there aren't many things I love more than to see their beautiful colors flitting around. So, as we say goodbye to summer and to the butterflies, I decided to tie them together in a beautiful long maxi dress.

Today's pattern is from a pattern company that has one of the largest tween pattern collections out there (as well as little girls and ladies). It is Create Kids Couture. You can find them in several places. http://www.createkidscouture.com/tweens/ is their website that will take you directly to the tween listings. They also have a great blog that offers tutorials and lets you know about upcoming pattern releases and sales. You can find it at http://www.createkidscouture.blogspot.com/ and right now they have a FABRIC giveaway, so after you finish here go on over there and check it out!. You can also keep up with them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/createkidscouture?ref=br_tf and with about 35,000 Facebook fans, I'd say plenty of people like their stuff.

I own pretty much all of their tween patterns, but today, I decided to make the Helen Maxi Dress. You can purchase the pattern here http://www.createkidscouture.com/helens_tween. Here is the design example from their page.

I have to tell you, I think Ben knocked it out of the park with today's pictures. The irony is, today was picture day at school, so this beautiful dress will be immortalized in the yearbook. She looked breathtaking. You know how sometimes you have clothes that just hang on the hanger but become alive on the person - that is this dress. Well, a picture is worth 1000 words - so let me show you. There are a lot of these because they are so beautiful, I had a hard time narrowing them down. He also put effects on some of them playing around.

If you have a tween girl, you NEED this pattern. To be honest, they need to get on the stick and get Mama's version graded up, because I need one of these for next summer.

Oh, I almost totally forgot! I have so many people saying how great she models and how she looks like she is always having fun and listening to the photographer. Its like one of those pinterest things - this is what you think it looks like and this is what it really looks like
not to mention there is usually some type of conversation about how her brother has pooted....The joys of tweendom :)

Well, Toddlers and Tiaras is about to come on (Season Premiere) and yes, I am a proud pageant watcher. We actually went to one of the pageants they taped when a local girl was featured. It was in Atlanta and our all time favorite pageant gal, Honey boo boo, was in it, too. So, several months later when the episode aired they were panning the audience and completely stopped on our son for several seconds. So, that is my claim to fame with Toddlers and Tiaras :) AND tomorrow is Project Runway.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening and until next time,
Christie

  1. This is AMAZING! You did so wonderful and your daughter is beautiful!!! This dress suits her <3 I smiled to myself when you posted the pics of her from the back holding up the dress because I have similar pics from last summer when I created the pattern with my, then 3 year old daughter. I loved those pics but don't think I put them in the listing. great blog....even though I'm a little biased! lol.
